What is SVG? (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Vector_Graphics)
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a family of specifications of an XML-based file format for describing two-dimensional vector graphics, both static and dynamic (i.e. interactive or animated). The SVG specification is an open standard that has been under development by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) since 1999.
DeepScreen Code Generation
DeepScreen code generation is currently limited to OpenVG targets.
Importing SVG Files into Altia Design
From within Altia Design, select File>Import>XML/SVG. In the lower right corner of the Import dialog, select SVG Files (*.svg) in the file extension dropdown list. Choose the SVG file you wish to import and click the Open button.
The Challenge
SVG construction and rendering in different programs can vary widely. Much like HTML, SVG is an open standard but different programs may interpret and display SVG files differently (like the age old problem of one browser displaying a web page differently from another).
How to Get the Best Results
We have found that the most accurate rendering of SVG files in Altia can be achieved when importing SVG files created in Adobe Illustrator. Other SVG authoring tools such as Inkscape may create less compatible SVG files that may not render properly when imported into Altia.
We've had the best luck when the content originates in Illustrator. Even if you import non-Illustrator SVG content into Illustrator and re-export it, Illustrator doesn't treat it the same as a native graphic -- which can cause render problems.
We will use this forum as a resource to address issues and solutions when using SVG with Altia products.
